Miss fire
Hai there,
Early this year my car are getting a couple of .. let me rephrase it numerous blinking cel lights... gone to the local subaru agent .. they said my car is miss firing and the fault maybe due to the apexi air filter i install on the car, but I had install the filter 11 months before and nothing was wrong with it then.. they also said that the seal of the air sensor to the filter are not tight enough therefore it may cause a miss reading in the ecu hence cause the miss fire... they already tried a number of ways to tighten the seal from replacing the O ring rubber to installing a gasket within the seal but still I am getting the damn blinking cel lights... Sooo help me please what is happening to my car...
my car is almost stock with the air filter, gfb blowoff valve, apexi RSM meter, greddy TT and an apexi megaphone exhaust till the middle only.

Hmmm, I just had the evil "misfire blinking CEL" myself. Mine was either a bad spark plug or poorly connected sparkplug. Have you replaced them recently? Something to look at.

The mechenic at the subaru dealer already search every where in the car including the sparkplug and the cable and found that it is still in fine condition.... I haven't change those but I am going to but was advise not to by the mechanic because my car is still under testing.... Oh ya btw my car is a wrx2002 euro version (bugeye) you can see it in the gallery.....

It sounds like they are just trying to blow you off. If you have the stock air fiter box I would put it back in and then take it back to them(assuming it still acts up). There are so many things that could cause this problem from a bad injector to a vacuum leak to carbon buildup. Also if they just looked at a plug that will not tell them if it's any good....I've gotten plugs brand new out of the box that look fine and don't work. See if they can tell you which cylinder (a multiple cylinder misfire code would make you look at other things)
Sorry I can't help more... Hard to diagnose without the car..But if you give a little more info about how the car acts(cold or hot, at idle or on the expressway, coasting or haed accell, etc) maybe we can narrow it down.

It is a multiple misfire which happens to all the cylinder.. the cel light came on while i was driving mostly around more then 100 km/hr... if the problem came from the intake air filter, why didn't the cel light up early.. why a year later I install the filter.. that case I was arguing with the mechanic and he agreed .. it is a good thing he didn't charge me on this fault... according to him I am the only person who got the problem here in Brunei... my hair is getting itcher by the day.. it really bug me.. I hope it doesn't damage my car...

I had the same problem with mine after i isntalled the GFB on full vent. After I changed it to the 50/50 (vent/re-circulate) setting, the problem stopped. Maybe this is the case with your car?
