Manual Boost controller question

remember what kills engines... long pulls at high rpms and high loads. don't go highway racing those ls and lt1's!

you'll be fine all day long at 15, for sure.

as you increase it up to a max of 16.5, you increase your risk. understand that.

octane in the friend of high boost. i only put sunoco 94 octane in my car after i put in some shell 93 and felt the timing get pulled a bit in the 4500 range.

i wouldn't go past 16.5--nothing gained up there with the stock turbo.

i liked my ball/spring mbc's response so much that i rigged up an electronic TPS switch and a grainger solenoid to annihilate the PTFB situation.

I wouldn't recomend pushing 16.5psi with the stock turboback. The reason cars with turbobacks can run 16.5-17psi is because the aftermarket turbobacks allow the turbo to run much more efficiently. I wouldn't run more than 15psi on an otherwise stock car. Heck, I'm catless and I only run 15psi because I still have my stock ECU and would rather wait untill I'm tuned to turn up the boost. I'll be keeping my MBC and tuning the ECU around it . I just love the response and smooth feeling of the mbc.

I've been thinking of an all electronic solution to the PTFB issue when running on a stock ECU. I'll just need to tap the MAP sensor and the TPS sensor wires. Basically when the MAP reads above a certain voltage (psi), the circtuit will simulate a 100% TPS signal to the ECU, forcing it to go open loop. I'll try to put this together and see how well it works
