Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

GRRRRRR! "Bumber" is NOT a word!!!!!! Pet peeve of mine.

Anyway, lots of people have upgraded their TMIC. STi makes a good one that when used in conjunction with the splitter/shroud/scoop assembly cools very well. The TXS intercooler is so large you have to modify your rubber shroud. A bigger TMIC will let you run more boost safely provided you get adequate air flow to the intercooler. Some of them are so large that you can't use anything to seal and funnel air directly onto the intercooler for maximum efficiency. People have had great results using the stock TMIC with a water mist kit and the stock turbo.

If I were to recommend one, I'd say either Vishnu, STi, or APS intercoolers because they work with the STi splitter/shroud/scoop combo to create a pretty well sealed pathway.

I'll echo supermarkus's concerns. The sealing issue is a major concern not to be overlooked. It has been shown to be critical in cooling effeciency. Pay particualr attention to this w/ aftermarket TMIC's. The oe intercooler can be made to be more efficient by adding aftermarket IC hoses, STi scoop, splitter and misting sytsem.

Right now only MRT and APS claim to keep the fog lights.

Shiv said he was making one that would at one time when he was visiting my neck of the woods. He also said he was trying to keep the stock air box in place too.

APS claims that this version will be truly BOLT ON (no cutting of any bumper beams, etc.) and retains the stock foglights:

APS has been tuning Subarus for a very long time, they are arguable THE biggest/best tuning company in Australia for Subies. Their products put MRT stuff to shame and what the sell is truly their stuff, not rebadged like MRT. Think of MRT as a middleman and APS as the direct parts supplier. Thats how they were explained to me. Plus APS stuff is engineered better, there don't seem to be as many complaints about fit and finish with them.
