Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Your car will lean out a tad as the air going into your intake will get colder thus denser.

okay but not great

The N2O coolers seem to give about 20 -30 hp, but really suck up the nitrous. The give a lot less power for a lot more gas expended than normal N2O systems.

It is much more cost effective to run CO2 through them.

The leaning effect should only be present while the temperature of the IC is rapidly dropping, as there will be a small lag between the mass air flow measurement and what the cylinders actually see. Steady state your right it should all work out.

I recall seeing a post on one of the boards showing a small change in mixture but off the top of my head can't remember where it is. Should not be an issue unless your tuned way too close to the edge.

Just get water spray-it dosen't remove as much heat, but it's cheaper and you won't have to pay much for refills. Nor would cops look at your water spray with as much interest.

Yes that's right

Yes that's right -- if properly used they are capable of giving 20+ hp. The gain will depend on how much power the engine normally makes as the gain will be a percentage of the normal power.

There have been back to back runs made with and without that show an increase of trap speed of nearly 2 mph. Depending on the car weight thats 15 hp.

There is a dyno test that showed jumps from 342-363 hp -- 21 hp.

If you look at the theory behind it, they should provide more than that if properly used. With water ice alone to chill the TMIC you can drop the intake air from 105 deg F to 45 deg F, that gives an absolute density change in the air charge of 11.88 Percent. Since power increases at the square root of the change in absolute temperature, that comes out to a 13 hp difference for a stock WRX using water ice only.

N20 chills to -170 deg F so there is even more power available if the user pre-chills the intercooler before a run. Using the spray during the run is not nearly as effective as the cold gas gets blown through the intercooler so fast, and does little better than pre-chilling with water ice.
