Intake Silencer Mod...

I currently have an AEM short ram on my Rex, and i'm going to go back to the stock airbox tomorrow (never really gave the stocker a chance), but do the silencer mod in the process. what works best on this mod, leaving the hole open, putting in a velocity stack, cutting open the side of the box with the hole, etc...?

I put in the velocity stack so you're obiviously familiar with it. If you do a serch with "velocity stack" and my handle "sisqocqk" you should run into some good threads regarding the same topic.

I have $100 on Peaty... he's helped me out a few times. you can count on him.

overall, i did the velocity stack exactly as stated on scoobymods.com. it works very well. BTW i also had a AEM and BLITZ SUS before the velocity stack.

goodluck, eric

ok, i put the stock airbox back in following the process on scoobymods.com. unfortunately, all i could find today was a crappy fram air filter, but oh well. initial impressions... that aem intake was a waste of money. mid range and top end are about the same, and low end is definitely smoother in delivery.

eric, i noticed your car is automatic? so's mine... pm me with what you've done to your car so far please.

You rang?

Before you put the airbox in remove the ring around the opening tht goes into the fender (where the silencer plugged into) It will give you more of an opening.

This thing:

Put somehting to bridge the gap between the fender and airbox.

Then get a fender plug for the hole that the front part of the intake came out of. THe OEM PN for that is:

46059FA000

Myself I haven't installed a velocity stack myself so I won't comment on it other than to say I'm guessing it won't hurt but don't know how effective it will be. When the air passes through the filter I think will get straitened out and any turbulence that you get coming in the fender hole will be gone.

As for a filter, I've started using Green Filters and prefer it to a K&N.
