installed exhaust....need help....

so i bought a blitz nur spec cat back from someone with a bug eye wrx. i have a 2004 wagon. he gave me two exhaust gaskets, one to go inbetween the mid pipe/down pipe and the rear section of the cat back, and the other gasket to go in between the rear section of the cat back and the muffler.

when i took off the oem pipe after the down pipe, i found that there was no gasket, and the one he gave me did not fit onto the oem down pipe. i called him, but he said that it fit his.

am i doing something wrong? or does that my04 not need a gasket there?

i just put it on without the gasket cause i didn't find an oem one when taking off the stock exhaust.

thanks

-tj

p.s. the silencer goes in big side first right? thanks

hmm. when i got my exhaust, it didn't even have gaskets. fits fine. no leaks. muffler shops have a superfluous amount of em.

maybe he had a downpipe too. My stock pipes didn't have a gasket there. Don't worry about it.

Its not something to "worry" about but if you have the time to locate and install a gasket I recomend it.

That is weird. I have an 04, and when i swapped out my exhaust, there were gaskets between all flanges of the entire turboback. But i guess as long as there isn't an exhaust leak, it should be ok.

Donut gasket...

I know this thread is older but...I thought I would put this in for future searchers...

On the stock exhaust, there is not a "flat" gasket like most of us are use to seeing...instead there is a "donut", kind of a cork looking gasket that fits in between the stock downpipe and stock catback...

You have to carefully pry it out of the pipe to get it out... a lot of cat-back systems are not made to use this donut gasket and supply their own...
