OK...some poeple might already know this, but I was talking to my friend who is a Subaru mechanic who has just returned from a tech seesion with Subaru. He was telling me about a kid who just brought in a WRX with 1500 miles with a spanked transmission. This dumbass actually admitted to holding the throttle wide open and dumping the clutch. Needless to say it sheared first gear right off the shaft! SOA is telling all of its dealers that it WILL NOT warrantee any transmission that has obviously been abused. My buddy had to tell this kid that he would have to fork over the dough to fix his tranny.

I know some people are going to flip out about this, but I agree with SOA on this issue. Those of you that drag race or just plain like doing four wheel burn-outs might want to think twice. It might cost you a fair amount!

P.S. My friend also told me that he gets to go test drive the STI with rally drivers on a special tech session for SOA mechanics...lucky *#@$!

 

There is a difference between drag racing and doing what that dumbass kid did. If you do it right launching is only going to cause more wear on the clutch disc.

 

speaking of a correct launch...i dont own a wrx yet, hoping to get one really soon (going from a dodge durango)...whats the proper way to do a launch?
