how long can i daily drive my WRX???

I blew up my last car(2000 civic si with a T3/T4) because it was my daily driver. after i blew my car up and had nothing to drive the idea of having a turbo civic as a daily driver no longer seemed like a good idea. I wanted a good realaible car that would still be fast, so of course i opted for a 2002 wrx with 30k on it. the car was stock when i purchased it only having a set of lowering springs on it and a boost gauge.

i drove my car for a while and started to buy parts. i now have
Helix Catless DP
HKS uppipe
HKS Hi Power exhaust
Turbo Xs bov

my car is still a daily driver now and holding up very well, but my future plans are leaving me skeptical.

i want to upgrade to a VF30 with sti pinks and a fuel pump and a cobb accessport. would i be able to daily drive this set-up with the stock wrx TMIC. is there anything else i would have to upgrade to make this set-up reliable for everyday driving to school and work. thanks

Modding the car will shorten the engines life, but the main factor is how hard you drive the car.
The harder you push it, more times into the redline, will all add up to a shorter engine life span. Of course proper maintenance is a big factor too.

If you seriously daily drive and not daily race, and perform the required maintenance, regular fluid changes, etc., then the car can last.

Plus the work needs to be done right. Starting with a car with 30,000 miles on it can be a mixed bag. If anything is wrong internally, tuning the car for more power, can make the problem worse...it's agood idea to get the car checked first to make sure there are no pre-existing problems.

i have taken it to the dealership for a couple different small problems and asked that they check the car out for any potential weaknesses and the tech told me everyhtign seems in check so i am going to install the parts i have purchased and see how it holds up from there

What kind of problems did you take it in for?

As long as you keep up with the oil levels and do all the proper maintenance its a great daily driver. I agree with redstage that hard driving and modifications can/will shorten the life...but if the car is taken care of and not being beat on until its fully warmed up you wont have much to worry about.
