Misfires? Bad spark gap? Which plugs did you use? What modifications do you have?

How do you know its not misfiring? "Stock replacement plugs", what are those? Did you get pre-gapped plugs from a Subaru dealership or something? Perhaps you should find out what modification are on. What sort of blow off valve and what sort of filter? This straightpipe was catless? 17.5lbs is way too much boost for an "otherwise looked stock" car. Its colder now, I bet you're knocking too.

the better you fully and directly answer my questions the easier it is to answer you questions

Oooh K&N. Check your MAF sensor to see if its got drips of K&N oil on it. This is what probabaly causes cruising or accelleration stumbling. The poor gas milage is probably do to your BOV, which blows off to the atmoshphere, yes? If that's the case what's happening is the ECU reads air as it flows by the MAF, but the BOV releases a good amount of this air. So the ECU ends up sending more fuel through the injectors than you really need. Bad mixture, bad milage. It also makes for boggy shifts. If I were you I'd just remove the shorty and the BOV and reset your ECU for fun,... sell them to someone who now knows less than you

If you noticed the problems only after the spark plug swap, I'd make sure all the plugs are the correct heat range, gapped propperly, torqued propperly, and finally that all the coilpacks are on tight.

Also, as Jason pointed out, 17.5psi is way too much boost for your stock wrx to be running. Did you buy the car with an MBC or EBC? Or maybe you have a reflash? My advice is to figure out your boost control, then dump the intake and BOV.

I'd bet they cracked the insulator on one of the plugs, causing occasional misfire. Let us know what you find.
