CD's skipping only when Bass hits..
I have a Kenwood Z919 head unit in my car, and when ever I turn the volume past 20, the CD starts skipping a LOT, but if I play the radio with the bass turned up, I can go to like Volume 35 w/o problems...is my deck messed up? would using a CD cleaning kit do anything, or is the deck itself messed up?
btw, I have 3 12" audiobahn's with about 700 watts going into each of them...
Thanks,
Zoeb

skipping
I have this problem too with my head unit, but I don't think it has anything to do with the stereo equipment at all. I have a JVC kd-sh707 head unit, stock factory speakers, and an infinity basslink subwoofer (200watts), and it skips whenever you turn the volume up or the bass hits hard. To me it sounds like the cd player is clipping out, which means that the speakers (subs in this case) are demanding more power then what the stock battery and alternator can supply. To fix this problem (I haven't tried this yet), you could get a fraid cap capacitor and add it to your system, or upgrade your alternator/battery. I'm not sure if this will help or fix the problem at all, but that's just my opinion. Also make sure your wires going to your amps and everything are of adequate gauge. Anyways, good luck getting it fixed...and try cleaning your cd's and putting a cd lens cleaner cd in your deck too
