Between about 3200 and 3400 rpms my motor begins to feel out of balance Basically, instead of a smooth constant tone (which is everywhere else in the powerband), there is a rythmic pulse between this rpm range. It seems to only happen when the car is in gear and it doesn't matter what gear it is in. Does anybody have any ideas as to what could be causing this? Thanks.

 

Does the boost cut in and out between that range?

 

I hadn't noticed it doing that...it seems to be getting good power...i'll pay closer attention next time i drive it to see if it is cutting out. thanks.

 

Other than that I really don't know what it could be, Ignition, A/F, Boost, ECU .. There are all sorts of problems you could be having. If you determine it is your boost, it could be a boost leak or a stuck BOV. You just cant tell at higher RPM's.

Also, do you have an atmosphere venting BOV. or does your exahust smell like unburned gasoline?

 

I tested it last night and it doesn't seem to be the boost cutting out. Also, i don't have any BOV and i don't smell unburned fuel either. I guess i'll take it to the shop...it's getting frustrating as my car has been in the shop more than i would expect for a car with less than 50K miles...oh well.
