Help! "Check engine" light and unichip
Hey guys, I purchased a unichip programmed for a turboback exaust almost 2 years ago. I had my turboback exaust and perrin uppipe and then plugged in the chip and have had no problems until recently. Suddenly, my "check engine" light appeared about 2 weeks ago and I have no idea why. I haven't modified performance since the chip was installed almost 2 years ago. I'm afraid to bring it to the dealer in fear of aftermarket warranty problems and I'm not sure what's causing the light. If anyone has any experience with this I'd really appreciate your input.
Thanks a lot,
Scott

Take the car to Autozone and get it scanned for free. A lot of the Vishnu tuned Unichips were susceptable to misfire codes due to their mapping not matching correctly with the CAS readings that the ECU was expecting. If you have a Vishnu tuned Unichip and it's a misfire code, then I wouldn't worry about it. If it's a Unichip tuned by a different vendor, then I would give that vendor a call.

I got my unichip from turboxs and I emailed them but haven't had a response yet. I'm not sure how the tuning differs from vishnu so I couldn't say if itd be a similar problem. I guess I'll go ahead and take it to autozone. What would I have to do if I did get a misfire code? Also, is resetting the ecu as easy as unplugging the chip? Thanks, i appreciate the responses.
