helix downpipe install question

so my girlfriend bought me a helix downpipe (i'm surprised) and i just installed it myself yesterday. one of the five nut on the turbo side ( below the bellmouth towards the fender side) doesnt seem to go in easily. anyone experienced similar problem? i left it out right now and so far no leaks yet ( i think). i tried my hand around the flange at idle and dont feel any leak. and when i drive it i dont seem to hear any hissing sound around that area, just some whistling noise when i step on the gas. is it normal? i'll try to put that nut in again soon, but just wanna see if it's a common problem with people who installed helix dp. thanks.

and also for the people that installed this downpipe to stock catback, did you guys replace the spring/nut/bolt with shorter nut/bolt? right now i've compressed the spring all the way to make it seal better, and seems like it's just easier if the spring is taken out when i get the chance.

i just did the same thing a day a go.
that last bolt is kinda pain in the **** because the bell mouth is so big. the easiest way to get at it is from under the car. i used a 14 mm open wrench. u should have all 5 bolts on.
as for the cat back hook up, i used the bolts that came w/ the helix down pipe. there might be a small leak due to the fact that they stock cat back section uses a dounut gasket and the helix uses a flat flange. use the supplied bolts, inseting them from the helix side back. bolt, washer, down pipe flange, cat back flange, lock washer, nut. try to get the flanges as lined up as possible, and tighten them. just thread the bolt/spring set up to your stock down pipe for futrue smog use.

thanks.... i'll just try that nut on the turbo one more time. and in my case helix didnt supply the nut/bolt for the cat back flange so looks like i'll go to the hardware store to get them.

i just got the last nut on the turbo side. i must be tripping, it wasnt hard to put in at all!! but dont have room to use torque wrench so i just guess-timated the torque on that last nut (others were torqued 26 ft-lb). and i dont have the heat shield on yet, is it bad for the engine compartment?

you'll have to cut your heat sheild to get it back on. the bellmouth design won't allow the heat shild to go back on w/o modification. a lot of people just dont put them back. if anything, make sure that the rubber hose coming out of the firewall doesnt rest on the down pipe, move it out of the way so it doesnt get fried.

you can only cut and fit the heatshield you can see from the hood open. the other heatshields will not fit

i had no problems installing my helix down pipe, all went on very easy and i have no exhaust leaks and running 8-10k now with it

I bought a stainless steel heat shield from www.speedmonkey.com. It only covers top of the turbo unfortunately, but it keeps heat away from the intercooler.
