helix uppipe and downpipe install question?

ok, I have searched around and have a question about the helix uppipe install.
first should I leave the egt sensor in, some same to leave it in and some say to remove and do a cel fix on it, some report that if you leave it in then you have a chance of it breaking and ruining your turbo. is this true. and if your remove it how do I go about doing the cel fix.

question about the downpipe
it is a helix also, there is a opening near the bellmouth, but it has a bolt in it, should I leave it in, and also there is a another opening near the mid-pipe connection, but no bolt in it, should I get a bolt to fill it up or does a sensor go in there (o2 sensor) I have the cel fix for the downpipe.

Just trying to get all the info so when I start doing it all in the next day or 2 (my car is getting inspected now, before I put them on) I know what I am doing, I have found on nasioc some install tuts on uppipes, but I am not sure of the sensors and stuff, thanks

by the way it is a 2003 wrx sedan with no other mods do to it.

I didnt have a bolt, so I just put the sensor back in the uppipe. I dont know what the odds are of it breaking apart. The uppipe cel fix is a 2.2k ohm 1/2 watt resistor plugged into the egt connector.

Leave the bolt in the downpipe and use the cel fix for the 02 sensor. You screw the o2 sensor into the cel fix (this is assuming you use the mechanical fix; 2 bolts that extend the sensor further from the exhaust gases) and then that goes back into the midpipe.

I would plan on one full day or two days on doing those installs, its quite the project. It took me and a friend 2 days to install TBE, IC hoses and gut the oem uppipe. Good Luck!

oh, Im not familiar with the electrical fix for the downpipe. The mechanical fix uses 2 spark plug anti-foulers as an extension for the 02 sensor. You drill one of them out with a half inch drill bit, then screw them together.

Go to Nasioc and look for Unabombers Downpipe FAQ. On that faq there is like a 10 page thread with a picture. I would link it, but its blocked from work. If you cant find it, I can email you a cut and paste document I made a while ago. Once you have the extension its really simple to screw them in and you dont have to f**k with the wires

www.scoobymods.com you'll find your instructions for all of that.

FYI - it takes about a day at the most to do UP and DP if you've never done it before and don't have anyone that has.

For the Helix UP...it comes with all those studs for you to screw in. Normally, you would screw the short side of the stud into the UP and the long sides would go up into the Turbo. To help with fitment of the DP I suggest to screw the studs that are directly under where the DP connects to the turbo...upside down so that the long side of the stud is in the UP and the short side is protruding out. Makes it easier because sometimes those studs get in the way of DPs.

P.S. Any kind of penetrating lubricant is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED...use lots of it! LOTS of it! It is your friend.

P.P.S. Use 6 Point Sockets ONLY...do not use 12 points or you will most likely round off the nuts and it is a major PITA to get them off.

FYI the upper nut on the downpipe is for a wideband 02 sensor.
