Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

vaus,

I'm seeing it creep to 810C or so. By about 6krpm I'm seeing between 103 and 107 kPa. I change my boost settings throughout the day depending on street vs. freeway and morning cold vs. afternoon temps. All under a limit of 107.

update: I changed the fuel filter today; its about time I guess, heh 31k miles. Man it was dirty in there. I think I really am feeling a better throttle response and I think EGTs are a bit down (by as much as 50C). But I need to test this out some more. I'm also running some fuel injector cleaner right now. When this tank w/ the 91 + Xylene runs out I will put only 91 only in w/ another dose of injector cleaner and reset the computer.

I really need to get some fuel management.

[edit] p.s. and tomorrow the 1 stage colder NGK iridiums go in.

103 - 107kPa is 14.9-15.5psi. That's too much to be running at 6k+ RPM for the TD04. All stock turbo's I've seen taper boost naturally to ~13psi by redline. How much boost are you running in the midrange?

vaus,

well like I said I have en aftermarket EBC. It seems to hold boost pretty darn well. Its hard to say about midrange, since it changes depending upon many factors including load, how fast boost is rising, how much pedal mashing I am doing, etc. I need some sort of logging capability.

I have my boost drop by one boost % setting (which often translates form 2 to 3 kPa). So as boost reaches the 107 limit and wants to keep climing it will fluctuate between 104 and 107 often for many hundreds of RPM, well into the 6KRPM range. Of course if I am driving hard for a decent period of time boost will naturally be lower and taper more quickly just due to overall rising heat inefficiency.

Do you have a TBE? The strange thing is that even with the wastegate wired shut, the stock turbo won't make much more than 13psi by redline so the form of boost control shouldn't matter.

Maybe not as long as you think. I'm running the JDM Sti topmount with the stock scoop and no splitter. I'm getting occasional ping under load where I never had before. With the bigger IC there is no way this should be happening. I'm thinking it's all about airflow THROUGH the IC. Your setup would definitely have compromised flow.
