Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

It's not worth it. It's better if you start off with the STi RA heads as they have much larger valves to begin with. Then if you want to port and polich that, then go for it.

As for balance and blue printing, thats up to you, and is more for race built engines then anything.

I disagree. The STI and WRX head castings are identical. Good headwork-porting (no polishing) will make a dramatic change in the power band. While your in there-upgrading to larger SS valves would be simple enough. Good cams for your app would further improve things.

It depends on what/which STi were talking. One has physically larger ports/valves over the normal USDM heads.

Here is a quote from Clark @ DynoComp

The US heads as I have said many times before, are V6 castings. V6 castings had provisions for AVCS and some V6 cars had AVCS. As we recently learned. Not all V7 Ej207 STI engines have the same heads. Early exampls where simply V6 motors and used the older castings exactly like the US car. Later V7 STI engines came standard with the new updated large port heads. As a result they made more power.
the RA is one with the larger ports.

Here are the smaller ports, notice the space around the fingers.

Now the larger ports, again notice the space around the fingers. See a difference?
