Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Fuel issues

Background on my 02 WRX 5sp:
VF34
Pinks
Walbro pump
Accessport vf34 map
KN cold air
-All installed about 10-15k miles ago

The parts were installed about a year or so ago by myself. I went overseas with the military for the better part of a year. While I was gone my mom (lol) drove the car. During that time the front o2 sensor died, so the car ran awhile with a dead o2 sensor, aka not good. When I returned, I saw the CEL and replaced the sensor. Reflashed the map. While I was in my house a buddy of mine was clearing the code and cleared a code that he described as something do with fuel. Note to all: Dont allow family or friends to touch your car.
Now here are some issues that were happening before and still after replacing the o2 sensor.
- Fuel Level guage on the cluster is always around the "F", most of the time above the "F". It never moves below 3/4 full, even though I watch the mileage and know when its lower.
- After about 4-6 gallons of fuel are used from a full tank (meaning its about half empty, maybe a tad more), the car will run rough during accelleration and only during that time, almost like its running out of fuel. When I top off the the tank, it goes away.
- Lately about 80-90% of the time I try to start the car, it will just make a clicking noise. No turning over, No ignition. I have to still there for 10-15 minutes, just turning the key from off to start to eventually it will start turning over. Does this with a cold engine or hot.

My thoughts - The walbro fuel pump crapped out. It would explain the gas gauge being totally inaccurate. The baggy on the fuel pump maybe stuck up which would make it sends signals that are more gas in the tank then their really is. This would also explain what I think is fuel starvation when the tank drops to around half tank and the pump cant reach the fuel. Im assuming this would also account for problems during starting the car.
Maybe I'm wrong, can anyone give me their thoughts?
