I've got to agree with you on the business look that doesn't attract attention with looks, only with sound. what are the general assumptions in the VW world about the power making abilities of the magna flow vs. flowmaster? also is the magna flow a straight through design? thanks for your input steve.

flowmaster vs. magnaflow

I never dyno'd a motor with Flowmaster. I did run a 2.5" Flowmaster 3-chamber (if I remeber correctly) on my own 2.3L and then changed over to 2.5" Magnaflow and found another 600rpm up top.

My car ran 12.66 on 92octane through Magnaflow. This was in 1850lb street car with MH slicks.

The Flowmasters have been deemed restrictive in the VW world by the guys with dyons. Some motors have ran better HP with Magnaflows than with full open exhaust.

And yes the magnaflow is straight through. They have a distinct scream at the top side of the tach!!!

what about two magnaflows, one on each side of the car. I wonder how that would sound? or perform?

nevermind, I just realized that there is this black thing down there on the passenger side. Anyone know what its for?
