Question exhaust installation: gasket sealer?

hey guys

im just about ready to install a full turbo back exhaust; stromung cat-back, helix uppipe, and downpipe. my dad was saying i need gasket sealer to bind the gaskets between the sections of pipes. now my dad doesnt no much about cars so he's just making a reference, but is he right?

do i need gasket sealer before i do the install this afternoon?

Need...no. Want...that's up to you. Not very many people, if any at all, use gasket sealer on TBE systems. The gaskets that come with it will work just fine. Make sure you clean all of the old gaskets off and replace with new ones, especially on the uppipe! Do not try to reuse the old ones. Good luck with the install!

I'm running catless too...and straight pipes.

Do you need any help installing your TBE? I live right up in Alamo and wouldn't mind helping a fellow i-clubber. Shoot me an email if you need a hand (make sure it's email, not pm...I won't be home and can only check email on my phone).

It's pretty loud, but I've heard louder (in American cars). I love the noise. I still have one resonator so it deepens the tone a lil bit, but I've never had a problem with cops yet. Received 2 tickets within the last 3 weeks (red light violation and speeding) and neither of them said anything about my non-existent muffler (my exhaust actually dumps below the back seat).

no worries ! the stromung catback isnt too loud catless comepared to other exhausts . . . plus you have the dual tip so it looks stock. i wouldnt worry if i were you, just dont make yourself noticable by raping it in every gear.

i have a stromung which is a bit quieter so i dont think the catless downpipe is going to be anything too drastic. my problem is a few weeks ago everybody i talk to is like "yea, go catless, it's sweet, everyone does it." now that i have my straight pipes everyone is like, "whoa dude, i would never do that to my car, if you get pulled over your car is going to get impounded!"

so of course now i'm nervous to switch things up...

actually because gas prices have been so rediculous lately i've been driving around town in 5th alot and not reaching any boost higher then about 3psi and thats when shifting. i'm kind of a gas fanatic so i've been conserving lately...

it's good to hear positive things about the stromung and being catless tho, thanks
