Lately I've noticed after my wrx warms up I start to hear a metal tapping sound from the engine bay during acceleration. It only happens when the engine has warmed up and when I give steady gas. It doesnt always happen but its quite often.

Also I noticed the other day while turning right into a parking spot, the front right wheel area was kind of shuddering. Its hard to explain but it happens at slow, tight right turns.

Any ideas?

 

What octane gas do you use?
If you use under 91 octane the engine will knock during acceleration.
I use 93 or 94.

 

I use 89-91 usually. But would it make a knock that loud?

 

You don't automatically get Knock if you use 91 octane.

That would mean nobody could drive a WRX on the west coast.

 

I check out my CV boot last night and its really dry. How hard is it to lube this? I think this maybe the cause of both my problems.
