Engine problem

I have a little problem. The other day i was driving and I shifted into second and a big puff of smoke blew out my exhaust my friend said that it smelled really bad
, I just installed my sbc id i was wondering what could be wrong(if anything) thanks

What color smoke was it?

blue = oil (turbo seals, valve seals, ect)
white = water or coolant (blown head, ect)

do you have a bov that vents to atmostphere?

if so it could be fuel. if it was black, then that was probably the case.

I was going about 40, i think its my coolant. It was white smoke and I'm running low on coolant. I dont need to drain my old coolant do i? I can just fill it.

uhhh... yeah, but if you got white smoke, im guessing your motor is toast

if you car is under warranty just put some antifreez and then just take it to you dealer to have it fixed or maybe a new motor cheers

i hope so too, you're scaring me now. My car is running fine, this happened about a week ago, i was just wondering what it may be. I just put my boost controller in so i think they may not fix it for me.
