Engine feels constipated
I finally passed the 1000 mile mark today and took it up the rev range. To my disappointment after 5k the engine still pulls, but feels like it's constipated. I'm sure Cobb Stage 2 would do great, but is this an inherent characteristic of the stock turbo?

Yep, the stock turbo starts running out of breath at a little over 5k rpm. It's what we get for boost onset at 2500 rpm
Nothing to be worried about.

it's either we go low end or high end...a sacrifice for one thing or the other.

Acutally there is a method i'm familiar with but i'd never try it on my own. Its called sequential turbos where one really small one handles the low end boost and shuts down to make room for the bigger one at higher end boost. (neccessary? no..)
Honestly in a race most people don't launch at under 3.5k so bigger turbos aren't a real problem in the end. If your worried your turbo isn't spooled up just rev it up nice an high until the light is green
But i am not replacing your clutch or transmission if you decide on dumping it at high rpm

An alternative are some of the aftermarket turbo's from IHI like the VF35 or the new twin-scroll models; they have good low-end pickup and make very respectable top-end power. Of course, I'm way to broke to afford any of this stuff
