Clutch Pedal Problem
I just finished a cross-country trip from FL to CA and the car was great. As I get into Los Angeles, I step on the clutch pedal and it feels different. Usually, the pedal is pretty stiff, all the way from the free play to the point where it engages (about halfway down). Now, it is very soft and I feel it stiffen up again when I get to the point where the clutch engages where it is stiff again...
I drive an 02 WRX with 146,000 miles on it...was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before and if it is a simple fix. I tried doing a search and the few answer that turned up were: 1) bleed clutch or 2)adjust free play.
Thanks!

The clutch itself, it is a semi-organic material (unless you've swapped it out for a ceramic or carbon clutch) and expands with heat, causing slipping or a lack of engagement. You don't have a master/slave cylinder for your clutch - what do you think you drive, a Ferrari? The clutch is cable activated. Another possibility is that the cable bound up in the sleeve somehow, or again heat was a factor and caused the cable itself to stretch or slip.
So what's #5 - http://opposedforces.com/parts/impre...llustration_1/
And #8 - http://opposedforces.com/parts/impre...ontrol_system/
They must be out of the Ferrari parts catalogue...
