Cleaning the fuel system....
Hi guys,
I've been having problems with my fuel filter getting clogged up every 100 or so miles, and I was wondering if there is a way to clean the fuel system.
The problem began when I ran the car hard with almost no fuel (i know, very stupid of me).
After dumping the fuel in the filter into a crystal container, I discovered small pieces of dirt that look like rubber.
Basically the problem is when the filter gets clogged up, it wont boost past 7 psi and there is a lot of hessitation and the EGTs go crazy high.
Does anyone know how to clean the fuel system?
Are the fuel lines rubber or metal, and can they be replaced?
I've gone through a couple of tanks of fuel to see if it would go away, but it hasn't
I really need to have my baby running smoothly again soon, please help!
Thanks in advance
Dennis

here's how you do it
Look under the car just in front of the spare tire hump and you will find the fuel tank. If youl look at the bottom of the fuel tank you will see two plugs one on the left one on the right pull the plugs and drain the fuel tank. Now go inside the car and pull the back seat out, on the passenger side of the trunk you will see a acces port take the cover off and pull the fuel pump out look on the bottom of the fuel pump and clean of the strainer it will be a little bag on the end of the fuel pickup. Now go change the fuel filter and that should fix your problem. HTH

Where are you buying your gas? Some places have some real problems with dirt and water getting into their storage tanks. And when you buy their gas you also are buying their dirt. Try going to different station than the one you have been going to.
