Does the UTEC modify the original factory engine control unit?
No. The factory engine control unit is not altered in any way. Removing the UTEC puts all engine management control back in the hands of the unaltered factory ECU.
How do I install the UTEC and how long will it take?
The UTEC simply plugs in to the factory ECU using OEM connectors. Installation takes no longer than 20 minutes and requires no cutting of wire or soldering. Most of the time is spent simply gaining access the factory ECU that is under the carpet in the passenger foot-well.

It sounds good but it's a G. I was lookin round the $400 range, but thank you. Anyone else think they can help more along that price range? Thanx, Kal... Opps, I am open to any mod, not jus ecu or chip but that would be nice, hehe, thnx.

Car Info: 02 WRX wagon=dead; rollin' in a Craptastic Camry!
You gots ta pay ta play, man!
You could always go buy a manual boost controller for $5. But you'll likely grenade your engine and you'll likely be denied warranty.

Cobb Tuning AccessECU.... $395... The only caveat is that you have to send in your ECU to get re-flashed... The turnaround time is apparently about 2 days, so if you can live without your car for a few days this might be the way to go... Check out more info here:

ok..... wow...
i have a question, im somewhat confused with the utec. so if i buy the "stage1" utec chip, i can fine tune that bad-boy myself, and make it just like the "stage4" right? dont get me wrong, i know about chips and all, heince the fact that i work for a diesel chipping company, but our chips are not nearly as confusing as this one. someone fill me in.

Correct me if I am wrong but the stages are just preprogrammed maps you can download depending on what mods you have.
Ok just read the website, stage 1 is just UTEC (no mods) so it is already 'fine tuned' for a WRX.
stage 2 includes UTEC that is pre-programmed for
4" Stainless Steel Downpipe
3" Stainless Steel High Flow Cat
3" Stainless Steel Midpipe
2.5" Stainless Steel Muffler Assy
it just saves you time/money of doing the configuring yourself.
hope all that was understandable, programming a UTEC like you have all the stage 4 mods when your car is stock would be a bad thing to do.
