Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

that was kind of a useless response, and i beg to differ. if someone was crazy enough to buy a wrx and modify almost everything, spend 80,000$, suppose it was safe and reliable with a rebuild and a leather interior and things like that, are you still going to pick the m3?

It all depends on what you want. If you don't want a hopped up WRX - it won't matter how much money the person spent on it you still wouldn't want it.

Just like I wouldn't care how much somebody dropped on a *****in' 6-figure Yugo - I still would take my WRX over it no matter how well the little econobox performed.

Another thing to think about......you can't beat Japanese car reliability that BMW does not have.....it costs a fortune to fix them and they break more often than a subie will.

There is no problem with our tranny's....the problem is driver error.

how would you say the M5 is behind it? I'd say the M5 then the m3.

95 M3 only has about 240 horsepower. The new M3's have 333 hp.

ok.. this topic was about m3 vs WRX

When I said flagship, this is where I was going with it...

The majority of the ppl who talk about BMW's performance M series, it would be the m3, the m5 is more of a performance luxury sedan imo which is why I said its behind the m3...

but this topic was about the e46 m3 vs WRX, so i'll take back my statement about the m3 being its flagship.. but I'd say the m3 sells better than the 7 series.. but maybe im wrong

Having driven my dad's M3 with the sequential shift, you could beat him on launch alone. The M3 driver does not have much control over the the launch(no clutch pedal), all he can really do is floor it. However, once he gets going it is fast as s**t, and shifts rediculously fast. Don't even think about a top end run, the M3 gets to 150 pretty quick and the WRX can't get close to that.
