Busted fitting, getting 17psi and lots more power... by accident

I was fooling with a coupler in between two hoses that run to a T fitting by the bottom left hand corner of the intercooler today and managed to snap it clean in half.
I believe that this is the line in which a manual boost controller is run. I was forced to drive the car so I took it slow but forgot after a few minutes. I checked my boost gauge and noticed that I was getting 16-17 psi... and not at full throttle! I usually get 13 tops, but it felt fine, in fact much more powerful than stock (which my car is entirely), it held at 16-17psi no matter how hard I pushed it. Is this the boost mod I heard of a while back? Am I going to grenade my engine running 17psi with no tuning or accompanying modifications? I love the new power but am not willing to risk ruining my engine for it. Thanks in advance

that sounds like the line to your wastegate. youll nuke your engine if you get on it hard because youll be stuffing way more boost into your motor than it will be able to handle because the wastegate wont open. im not super familiar with how all the pressure relief systems work, but im pretty sure its all linked together, and your recirc valve (which is designed to be a failsafe) wont open either becase its not getting signal.

i would fix the T-fitting before driving the car anymore.

I certainly don't think that 17psi is more than it can handle. The wastegate is completely out of the picture now and the turbo is holding at a solid 17psi. Everything feels alot smoother throughout the whole powerband, no more choppiness anywhere. Very linear. I've no idea what my egt's are but I've been driving it like this for a few days with out a single complaint from my the powertrain. My only thought is that with the computer no longer controling boost, if anything should go wrong elsewhere it can't go into limp mode. A lean condition doesn't seem to exist, no knock or detonation that I've felt. This ecu is very adaptive!

Has anyone run this much boost with no supporting mods before? Was it reliable? It feels reliable. Thanks.

Oh and if you're talking about the blow-off/purge valve when you mentioned the recirculating valve, I can still hear it working just fine. Everything seems to be working as before just faster and smoother. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Update

Cruising today in fourth at speed, got some detonition. Nothing's broken, returned to stock and CEL is off. Power still jumps around at half throttle acceleration in third, power back to normal. Man that thing was stupid fast and smooth for a few days. Not worth blowing it up though. Time for a tune. Thanks for looking
