Burning oil PLZ help
Burning oil PLZ help
first of all sorry if this was asked. And if so plz send links. I have a problem. My mods are: APS 3.5 inch turbo back, Cobb stage 2 tune, Cobb short ram intake. When i start up my car in the morning there is no smoke at all. I worm it up for about 5 to 6 minuts and start driving there is no smoke at all. I stop at a light for about 30 seconds, and when i take off i get white to blue smoke and a burning oil smell. After about two lights it goes away, and no sign of somke. There is no smell of burning oil at all, just fuel. After driving the car for a good 30 minuts or so, i park my car turn the engine off for about 10 to 15 minuts and sometimes after i start it, right away, even at idle i get a big chunk of smoke lots and lots of it, and after i rev it for a little bit it goes away and once again no sign of smoke no burning oil smell. I will be doing a compression test on monday, that will eliminate at least one component. Plz help me with any info, also what is the compression that the 2005 wrx sopose to get.

funny think i had this happen and what it turned out being was the throttle body gasket connected to my intake manifold.

It is possible that that one of yout head gaskets might be leaking into the combustion chambers letting water in to the cylinder causing you to blow out a white smoke aka steam. Just a suggestion because the same thing happened to my Porsche last month. Just a suggestion.

Well, after hearing you drive away on Sunday (I think you are the same person. If not, I apologize profusely.), I will be more inclined towards your turbo. 3.5 inch catless (shame on you) exhaust is way, way too big for what this engine could flow at 91 octane gas. If I was you, I would put the stock exhaust and intake back on, re-flash the ECU back to stock and take it to the dealer to get fixed. After that, read what Mike Shields has to say about tuning a turbo charged engine @ www.spdusa.com. Remember what I said about reliable and safe power?

wheres the smoke coming from? You never specfied. What color is your car? No joke. (Very white smoke, which would be coolant, will look blue over a blue car. )
If the smoke is coming from the engine bay, and the smoke has a sweet smell to it, its probabaly coolant near the turbo. I've seen this many times.
