Boost Creep Suggestions...

I've done some reading over the past few days on this forum, as well as NASIOC and ClubWRX, in regards to boost creep. I am looking for some suggestions from this point as to what i should do...
My mods are:
-Stromung SS 3" CBE
-Blitz-SUS
-TurboXS MBC @~16psi (inline between turbo inlet & wastegate, disconnected factory solenoid)
-Worx BOV (25% recirc, 75% vent) < obviosuly no real power there
So, obviously I have boost creep. Driving around town, I have no real problem, boost guage sits around 15.5psi @ WOT. When I am on the highway, I have peaked as high as 19psi and hit Fuel-Cut and the CEL.
I have a TurboXS catless uppipe I wanted to put in, but i know the turbo will just spool quicker and hit Fuel Cut quicker. I want to keep my factory downpipe, as I want to keep 1 or 2 cats for noise and such.
I bought the TurboXS Fuel-Cut Defender to avoid CEL, etc when on the highway and at the track, but I am not sure if I want to just install this and not really FIX the problem.
Would it be worthwhile to have someone port my wastegate or buy a ported one? Would be it be better to buy an external wastegate (38mm Tial) and a divorced uppipe?
These are the suggestions I am looking for. I don't want to spend a fortune, but also want to be able to drive my car daily and not break anything.
Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MBC’s and intakes with the oe EM will make your car run lean. A cobb stage 2 map has a boost target of 15.8psi +/- 0.5psi depending on vehicle and conditions and that is with a full TBE. If you plan on running the same boost without a TBE, egt gauge, EM or catless uppipe you’re looking for trouble. With that setup you are most likely running very high egt’s which will eventually heat the uppipe cat to the point that it will cause a piece of the cat to break and end up in the turbo. An even worse and likely scenario would be that the car detonates to a point that you will end up needing an engine rebuild.
BTW, I wasn’t trying to be an a$$ when I said that I would ditch all of your mods. I said that because all of you’re mods with the exception of the CB have a negative impact on you’re engine. Here is a link that explains det http://www.superchargersonline.com/content.asp?id=104. There are better write-ups than this on the net so you might want to do a yahoo or google search if you’re interested.

no i understand, didn't take it as you being an a$$
i am going to have my wastegate ported so i stay at 15-16psi like i want. i have a new uppipe that will be going in as soon as the gaskets come in the mail, and i have an egt guage to monitor it all. i really don't want to get a new ecu at the moment. i spent too much $ already this year on new wheels, tires, suspsension, etc.
any ideas on how to not run so lean? or is it all ecu controlled (ie: new fuel pump w/ ported injectors)

I'm no expert but from what I've read your a/f ratio is controlled by the ecu so I don't think a new pump or modded injectors will make a difference. One of the problems with running an intake is that the maf thinks there is less air passing by than there actually is so without a proper tune you will most likely run lean.
I bought my WRX in 02 and the first thing I bought was a Unifilter short ram. Needless to say I took it off after I read some threads about the negative impact it would cause. It's sitting in my garage waiting for a bigger turbo and a FMIC, hopefully it doesn't hold its breath.
Where is you're egt probe located and what reading were you getting at 16 and 19 psi?

ditch the mbc if you like your car. as mo rex said it is no good. And the ecuteck is not getting a new ecu but programing your existing ecu. It will keep your boost in check and not have you do ptfb(partial throttle full boost) when this happpens it makes your car run dangerously lean. You porting your wastegate will do nothing about this. save you money take off the mbc and sell it and then when you have money get a form of engine management. It will be faster and way safer. While your intake is optimal it is ok..i say sell that too but its your car. If you sell your intake and boost controller im sure you would be only a couple hundred bucks out of pocket in terms of moeny. I hope this helps..if your in a area with no tuners and have 92 or 93 at hand at the everyday pump then go with a cobb accessport its a type of em that grows with you.
