First off the power issue is a piece of cake, your transmission though is not. It is a common mistake to put all the power into the motor without realizing that your transmission just really can't handle it. Last i heard gearsets where still around 2-3k.
Second off your drivetrain isn't even halfway the same. Your gonna need a sway bar or two :P, shocks (optional), brake kit (optional), possibly wheels and/or tires, a differential control, and possibly if you want it a strut brace. That should reasonably best an sti in the corners if done right with not even all the components.
I suppose we could settle for just under the power of an sti and go with level 2 cobb tunning. Its roughly in the stock STI range with moderate driving skill. Anything more would start costing alot more money. Like Turbo vf34 upgrade, injectors, fuel pump, Upgraded Intercooler or FMIC, and of course a great fully upgraded exaust.

The STi Tranny and motor mounts will help transfer torque through the drivetrain. Probably won't notice a huge difference, but I've seen some boxer engines that rock side-to-side (worn mounts) when the engine is revved.
Oh, and for first mods I recommend the uppipe/downpipe, then ECU. BTW, I am running the Xede and I love it.
Also, brakes are very important and often overlooked. You need to slow and stop when you increase HP and TQ.

there are lots of room for improve on a stock WRX. the RE92s suck. tires would do a world of difference.
if you have a wagon, the stock sedon rear sway bar is very nice.
If you want power: uppipe + TBE and/or reflash
