Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge

Has anyone out there ever installed an Autometer oil pressure gauge in a 2002 WRX? I attempted it today, but with the metric-to-english adapter, the sender was too high. Now I have to run some extension pipe to mount the sender remote. Please help me!!!!!

Where are you installing? I'd suggest getting yourself some braided stainless steel hose so you can put your sender wherever you want. It will also serve to protect the sender from excess vibration. This is the way I went, using the hole under the intercooler.

Zip tie the sender in place when you're ready.

Did you have any leaks? You had the Subaru adapter, then the Autometer one, then the braided line.
Thanks so much.

I actually got my adapter from McMaster-Carr. For me it goes: engine block - adapter - steel line - right angle fitting - adapter - sender. I used teflon tape at each joint, no leaks.

Be aware though: teflon tape may require you to ground your sender separately.

I'm using some threadlocker without teflon, so I think I should be okay. However, how did you ground your sender? There is only one screw on top of the sender.
Thanks

My current sender (Autometer Cobalt series) doesn't need grounding because it has its own grounding lead. On my old one (Autometer Sport Comp series) I put a steel hose clamp around the sender body and attached the clamp to a bolt on top of the strut. Or you could just solder a wire to the body as long as it is isolated from the signal wire.

But if my threadlocker doesn't have teflon, it should still be able to ground off of the engine. Hopefully.
I'm gonna give it a shot tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the help.

Well, I was able to make it work tonight. I just put a 90 degree bend after the adapter towards the driver's sid right on top of the transmission. Everything screwed in just fine with no problems. I have to finish the wiring tomorrow, but it should work. Hopefully.
