Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge

I'm looking into getting Autometer boost and oil pressure gauges, and I was wondering if the oil pressure gauge would be able to read the pressure from the WRX. The gauge only goes from 0-100 psi.
Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on the night reading, but I think I'm still going to go with Autometer. I just like the look of them a lot better than the VDO. Plus, Autometer comes with the sender included.

I never had a problem reading my Autometer Ultra-Lite OPG. The whole face was illuminated, so it's not hard to pick out the needle. I think mine was $65 shipped from www.howellautomotive.com

I also installed the oil pressure gauge from Autometer. The sending unit looks like it belongs on a tractor or something. It's huge. I installed a fitting and a hose and mounted the sending unit next to the washer resevoir because it wouldn't fit underneath the altenator. Let me know which hose it is if anyone else has installed fuel pressure.

I have an autometer oil pressure gauge and have blown through 2 sending units. The pressure reads normal, but this is the 3rd one in a year and a half. Can the sending unit not handle the pressure, or is it just my car? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

If the pressure read normal, how did you know that you had blown a sending unit? Was it leaking or something. I've had mine on for a few months now and it works great.

Oh, i'm sorry. Yes, the sending unit was leaking through the top of where the electrical connection was.

At the electrical connection huh? I was worried about it leaking at the adapter to the engine block. I'll have to start checking the top too now. Thanks for the info.

I had spoke to autometer about my leaky sending unit. Their reply was to remount in another remote location, apparently the sending unit was receiving harmonic vibration and causing the internals of the sender to break down.... Somehow I really don't think thats the problem. Worse case I will go with another brand of oil pressure gauge. The autometer was good while it lasted. Just keep this little problem in mind psychobooe, just because I had this problem, doesn't mean you will. Good Luck!!

You can use the hose that came with the gauge but, I would suggest going to a Longacer premade -03 gauge line for added insurance. You don't want that thing to leak in the car.

Or better yet, don't use it and get an electrical gauge instead. There's no good reason to take the risk involved with mechanical gauges and potential in-car leaks.

DO NOT use the nylon tube that came with the gauge. The heat from the engine will make the tube brittle and it will break at some point. My suggestion is get a length of steel braided line instead. And yes, you do need the sending unit.
