Aftermarket Intake on AP stage 2 map

2002 WRX with turboback and K&N typhoon shortram. i just installed the AP stage 2 map (91 oct), and in the instructions it warns that only the stock intake or the Cobb intake will utilize this map correctly. i did a bit of research, and it seems that a CAI will not work. As for shortrams, there was conflict (no pun intended ). About 50/50 fighting both sides. I am wondering what i-club members think.

I think the reason that Cobb warns about other aftermarket intakes is turbulence of the air and diameter of the intake. if i remember correctly, the K&N is tuned for the stock intake diameter and won't mess up the ECU. as for the turbulence aspect, I think Cobb might be going a little over the deep end when talking about a ~240 HP vehicle. i understand the concern in regards to a ***** deep 400HP Subaru.

I would like to know what this community thinks about the issue. To be honest I am a little worried about it, but I won't lose sleep . Also, please add ANY comments that might help out other drivers when addressing this issue. Thanks!

i'd try it with and without if you already have the new intake. I had my SR intake at stg 2 and nothing happened. But everyone in this kind of situation has their own horror or miracle story. Just test the waters on it and see what happens.

I had the same question you did, but i have a 2005. I have the same intake as you and I've been running stage 2 with it for about a year now. So far so good (knock on wood). F**k it, at least you have the EM.

Talking Typhoon works awesome

I have had the typhoon turbo back exhaust and 91 octane stage 2 cobb map on my 2002 WRX for about 2 1/2 years and i have had know problems. It works great and i love the sound of the intake. There should be no issues with it. They only put that on there for liability reasons.

it doesnt make a difference on the intake. even the cobb site says it has to be stock or the cobb intake. you can put any mod on your car, just get it tune.
