Angry 2004 Wrx

I just bought an 04 WRX wagon. It has a little over 3000K on it. I followed the recommended break in period. It seems to me like the engine is consuming motor oil. Has anyone ever experienced this or is experiencing this? Thanks.

well i have a 2004 wrx sedan and i am not expirencing this but...are you using a SUBARU OEM Filter? if you are make sure it is the new model number too because subaru changed the oil filters for the new 2004's. I believe the new ones are black instead of white. I would highly recommend using this new subaru filter, and only subaru filters for the rest of the cars life so subaru cant void your warranty.

My '04 sedan ate a quart at about 4500 miles, I haven't had any other oil consumption issues before or since(13k now). Can't explain it, but it doesn't seem to be anything major.

You could try taking it to the dealer to be safe.

yeah, I took it to the dealership today for the recall. I asked the head technician about oil consumption. He said that is was normal for the motor to consume some oil for the first few thousand miles as long as it isn't a quart between normal oil changes.
