I have an ECUTEK map in my car right now. I am wanting to be able to tune my car myself.
I am wondering if I should buy the Xede (Not yet a proven alternative), a UTEC (A fairly crude piggyback), or, say "to hell with it", and run a WRXLINK.
If the reviews that I hear about the new WRXLINK are poor, then I am going to take a serious look at the modified Evolution Autronic produced by that company down in SoCal. The guy that runs the shop down there is a real cool cat.
I want PNP...I do not want to have to cut/solder any more damn wires. And in order to fulfill my request, my choices are limited to the ones listed above.
Your inputs please,
Andy

Shiv's thoughts are to buy a remap(which you did) and use the Xede for small offsets to extract maximum power from your car.
Then again what if you make a major engine part change?

Aside from building the bottom end and stroking, there is really not too much left to do. Maybe a Garrett turbo setup with an external wastegate. I also am eyeing some Perrin fuel rails and an FPR.

Personally I would go with the WRXLink, even if I didn't sell them. The bad reviews from the previous version of the WRXLink were:
I have no tested the new one yet but here is the list
1.) Fuel Cut Problem, Solved in Version 2
2.) AC ON when the fan was on, Solved in Version 2
3.) Startup had problems, though I never saw any with problems, that could not be tuned better
4.) The smoothness is not the same as the EcuTek. It is a little more on or off instead of a smooth increase in speed. Though the WRXLink always seems to produce more power and torque then the EcuTek.
Hey Andy, pm me about the EcuTek.

You know on the LINK it seems to not cope with weather too well. There was an extremely humid day last week before a storm and the car was really idling rough and erratic. I didn't fuss too much with it and let it alone for the day. The next day it ran just fine. Some days I wonder if a standalone was for me...
But it sure is fun to play with!
