Post Should I get a protune?

Guys, seeking opinions if I should get a protune with my current set up. I may decide to upgrade to vf34/39 somewhere in the future (not sure when).

Secondly, what do you think my current set up will yield? I will be tuning at Gruppe-s.

Perrin downpipe, pulley, IC hoses, intake pipe
GTspec header and uppipe
Borla Hush full 3"
Bigger TMIC
K&N filter panel
Cobb AP (next mod, possibly protune)

Also with the vf39/34 set up what would be the common gain?

Thanks for the info!

From the guys I know who have Cobb AP plus a protune love it. I guess the Cobb AP gives you a basic conservative map to run your car but with a protune it allows the tuner to tweek it a little more and get some more power and torque ect. If I go the VF 30/34 route and get Cobb AP I will for sure get a protune. Good luck.

Def. get a custom tune! It will have more power and run more efficient than an off the shelf map. With your mods, I guesstimate 220whp/230tq...?

When/if you upgrade the turbo, get another custom tune. Another guestimate for the vf34 would be 270whp/250tq...? Gruppe-S is a low reading dyno, maybe they will chime in, or call/email them.

A custom tune will not only get you more overall power/torque but it will also greatly improve response and overall drivability as compared to the Cobb maps. Your power band will also be much smoother.

Your setup on the stock turbo should make around 215-220whp and about 220-230ft-lbs. A VF series turbo should make about 270whp and 240-260ft-lbs depending on mods and the specific car.

Please let me know if you have any other specific questions.

Thanks

No, there's no need for Street Tuner unless you plan on doing the tuning yourself.
