Protune for AccessPort

Has anyone had their AccessPort ProTuned? Where did you go and what results/feedback do you have?

You're in Norther California, I'm not too sure if there any authorized tuner shop there. But you can look it up at Cobb's website, it will be under "News" dated at "8.18.05 ProTUNER List", there's link for their list of authorized tuners.

If anything, Eqtuning might be the closest tuner within your reach. Check out their website: http://www.eqtuning.com/ They're one of the lower priced Protuner.

i did a search for feedback but couldn't find a review. i do realize that gruppe-s is doing protune. what i'm looking for are drivers who have been protuned and get their thoughts on their results; good, bad, or indifferent.

When you get a Protuned map, it is much better and offer more compare to the off-the-shelf maps that Cobb offer. From what I've been reading from people, they're happier with their results than they did with the AP map. To me, that sounds good. That, and tuners here in California are good in what they do.

Eqtuing have dyno charts that shows the difference between an AP map and a Protuned map. Check it out.

tuned by eq tuning. Cant beat his tune. You cant beat the time he will spend on the tune. And great results. I have a 91 map and a rallycross map(100 octane heatsoaked top mount) 250ft/lbs of torque stock turbo Makes me happy. Contact Ed the website was posted above

Ed's tuning capabilities are awesome! Check out what he did on his wagon a month or two ago using ProTuner. Keep in mind that his car is almost stock.

I got my VF34 setup Protuned by Mike @ Gruppe-S and gained about 10WHP/10WTQ across the board with bigger gains in the midrange after he smoothed out a dip I had with the OTS map. The turbo also spools about 400RPM quicker which is noticeable in gears 2-5. Best thing about it is that he richened it up throughout, so it is a much safer tune than what I had before. He also tuned for 97 octane and I picked up another 20WHP/20WTQ and would have picked up more is the stock BC could have held more boost.

Leo : something to consider here that most (if not all) folks on this thread are NOT considering is autocross legality.

Namely, a "normal" tune is NOT gonna be STX legal. For STX you CAN'T change the boost curve. You also have to be careful about changing things in the ECU (i.e. closed/open loop switchover) that would inadvertantly affect the boost curve as well.

Thus, you need to have a tuner that is thoroughly familiar with the STX rules and how to stay legal...

ed, damn! i was hoping you weren't watching this! how do you expect me to get an edge on you next season? just kidding...
yeah, we talked about the stx map and i need to sit down with mike at g-s and see what can be worked out with the stage 2 AND the stx map. as far as i know, you can't touch boost in stx. anything else i need to relay to the tuner that i'm missing?
i'll let you know what i find out.

i guess the real question here is if the protune is significantly better than the off the shelf maps, since you have to pay for dyno/tuning time if you want to get protuned. so, if the protune is almost the same when compared to an off the shelf map, then it totally wouldnt be worth it.

to be honest, last week i went from Cobb AP stage 2 cali back to stock, and i really do not think there is a 50+ hp difference between the two. in fact, i dont really *need* stage 2 anymore. total placebo...

but of course, this is just my car. i have heard of people getting more than advertised, so who knows.
