well i got the gas cap today crossin fingers.. found a component behind alternator that has a support that bolts to the red wrinkle piping , the bolt for the support is missing i wonder if previous owner f***ed with it? could that be related to the hose that sends similiar code fault?

bolt i dont think so..

in my case when this happened to me it was actual tubing that was not connected. Paul popped the hood, spotted it, reconnected and that was my problem

well i didnt mean the actual bolt but thought maybe since bolt was missing that maybe what it supports is related somehow looks like electronic stuff. as far as a hose i cant see anything obvious. also when using the obd scanner tool it said "very small leak detected"

Both.

Check the evap hosing under the hood...behind the altenator.
Any shop can inspect for leaks with an EVAP-approved leak tester.

i did find a small hose that was loose , not off ..that was on a outlet on the red wrinkle pipe it fed a small can that had 2 other hoses that "T" off the can it was about 1/2" off i slid it back on but it had no snap ring or anything to hold it on,dont know if it has anything to to with evap stuff would take a pic a paste it here but i dont know if i can upload it here... im still waiting to hear from dealership i purchased it from to see wether or not there gonna take care of it. first time i brought it in they said i didnt tighten the cap and that it would have gone away after a week of driving .. but we know thats not the case now.

oh yeah, and re: gas caps, when it was left loose and they cause a CEL, yeah, it's common to take a few days to clear. It just wants to check your "driving cycles" before it will self clear.

IF is was just the gas cap (whether loose or faulty), then yes, i don't think that CEL should come back. Unless you leave it loose after a fill up again.

i always told my customers to make sure to hear it click at least 5 times when they close it (back when I sold cars).
