Repeating CEL

ive had this 05 sti for 1k miles and the cel came on i took it back to the dealer where i bought even though the warranty had expired and they said it was a gas cap code and cleared it. it came back on even though the next time i tightened the sh** out of it cleared cel myself by unpluggin battery .. cleared tightened cap and came back on. i cleared it again and it hasnt come back on but if does what should i do? any body have a similar problem that they could share some advice? i like to mention that the last 2 times it happened i was gettin on it and a few mins later i would look down at dash at it was on. Any advice fellow subies?

What was the CEL code?

It could be the seal inside the gas cap, they do go bad.

There is also a hose in the engine bay that, if its disconnected, could throw a cel code for the gas cap.

well ya if you've been putting it on super tight, its prolly the seal inside it. Pick a new one up from the dealer

have you messed with the fuel assembly at all lately? tried to change the fuel filter, or fuel pump? I was throwing the same code and mine was because it didnt sit right on top of the fuel tank. I had the same code forever now. I took mine to EQ tuning and they got me in and out within an hour

If you're gonna go to the dealer, just buy a new gas cap.
If that doesn't fix the problem, it's elsewhere...like the purge control solenoid(cheap fix) of the fuel tank pressure sensor(****ing expensive fix).
