Actually, this trick does work for the STi!, when I disconnected my battery...I lost like 3 mph and .3 to .4 slower in the 1/4 mile. A 25 HP loss???, Since I did the trick, I got back what I lost, my car now runs 13.3s @ 100+ mph stock! Good tip Shiv! Too bad it doesnt increase HP, but it gets you back to where you oughtta be....

I had heard that whenever you start the car, it has retarded timing and it slowly advances as you drive. Is this true or were they talking about after an ECU reset? If I do this trick, would it stay or once it detects knock, pull timing and never advance again until reset? i am new to the WRX, so the "workings" of the ECU are still unknown to me . Thanks.

03 wrx TBE + UP + AEM intake
lets see now
will this take care of P0171 lean condition caused by an aftermarket intake?

Remove the aftermarket intake and reset the ECU to get rid of the CEL. If you want to keep your intake, have your car professionally tuned and they can diagnose the CEL and check for an actual lean condition.

Yes, i did it and at idle i did feel slight shuddering. I didnt do any sprints. I am going to reflash it again for 8 points!
I also wonder if duct-taping 1/3 of the airfilter and a reflash will solve the problem.
I also wonder if by using JB weld, (isnt it already interesting?) reducing the diameter of the intake tubing to stock. around the MAF only with a tapering form of 1 inch -+ before and after the MAF sensor.
