recommendation, take whatever people say here as a simple suggestion. This will boil down to you taking some initiative and making a decision.

Why are you looking for a "rally performance" ecu versus a standard ecu? Will you be using the car for rallying or just as a daily driver? What do you WANT from an ecu? What do you NEED?

They're all very similar, almost identical. Cobb's is half the price. I chose Cobb.

I have seen some WRX's handle 300whp daily no problem and other blow up because the piston blew, though they were very similiar tunes.

Just my thoughts...
Yeah, a local WRX tuner in Columbus, Ohio. I live in San Diego, and having my ECU custom-tuned from my local tuner, Vishnu in San Francisco, is not an option. I doubt the difference is that much anyway.

I sent mine to Cobb. Only missed my car for two days. The reflash is amazing. I have the stage 2, but both the stage 1 and 2 look to be a big upgrade in even normal driving (low rpms). As for the stage 2, gobs of torque and very smooth. That is one thing I have heard about Cobb vs. other reflashes; much smoother power delivery. I am very happy with Cobb. And you can't beat the price. Buy a downpipe and muffler and get their stage 2 and you will be a happy wrx driver!

I'll 2nd the smooth power delivery from the Cobb. Even on 92 Octane, I get a nice steady pull from ~4k to high ~6k-something not possible on a stock ECU. I still need to drive an ECUTek car with similar mods to compare, but so far I'm really pleased with the Cobb.
