Since you have not provided enough information, here's an idea:

Put your stock intake back on.

Your MAF sensor??

Take Paul's advise and put your stock intake back on. Unless you like to run nice and lean...

PUT YOUR STOCK INTAKE BACK ON.

Obviously you have no idea what you're doing and I highly doubt that you're tuned for an aftermarket intake. Take our advice or you'll screw your engine.

Do what you're doing then. Looks like you know what you're doing.

Keep driving around with that CEL on then. It's on for a reason. Hurry up and fry a piston so you can go back to Civics. So do you really think there's colder air in your fender than in front of your car where the stock air-scoop is?

If the answer wasn't clear enough here's my 2cents...
CAI = CEL = "lean run condition" on my 02 WRX
Removed CAI = NO CEL = correct air / fuel mixture
per Adam @ LIC "stock air intake does a good job of providing cold air"

Most of the aftermarket intakes don't require an adapter since the intake is designed for a WRX application. This usually holds true whether the intake is the Subaru SPT intake or some aftermarket model. If the intake requires an adapter accessory for the MAF sensor, there's a good chance that the intake is some sort of universal intake and won't work correctly on a WRX without tuning - not worth the effort or money spent.

Putting the stock airbox and snorkel back on is problem-free and costs nothing. If you happened to see pictures of the Impreza rally car driven by Travis Pastrana in the X-Games, it had a factory intake and snorkel in place.

Mostly for looks. Some intakes can make additional power but you can usually achieve the same increase (or a lot more) with professional tuning and other modifications.
