Married or Unmarried?

Married or Unmarried?
need help asap, i went to look @ an accesport V1 today, i plugged it in and instead of immediatly prompting me to choose a new map to send to ECU,
It came up with a Menu that said
1>switch map
2>show current map
3>read CEL codes
4> reset ECU
When plugging in a new Accessport that has been unmarried shouldnt it come up with the menu that states:
Please choose a new map to flash to ECU
Press ok/cancel
If this helps, it was previously installed on an 04 WRX
And im driving an 05 92x Aero
The owner of the APV1 Insists it was unmarried from the previous car. (professionally from a local tuner shop)
but it doesnt jive with my research.
Please Educate me.

Yah i had that happen to me. I had to track down the dude who sold me the AP because he went MIA for like 2 weeks. I got my money back.
