How much can I expect to gain from downpipe, catback, and AccessPORT? (was: Q?)
Q?
i have an 03 wrx here are the mods: Down pipe/ full cat back GReddy exhaust, cold air, and electronic boost controller... planning on putting in Cobb. can any one tell me exactly how much this will help out my car? also how high can i set the boost controller w/ the tune? I hear many different opinions... just need to hear it from subaru owners, thanks for your help guys.

Cobb AccessPORT manages boost using factory boost control method - no need for auxiliary boost control. You can use off-the-shelf map supplied by Cobb Tuning if they have one for your intake. If not, consult with Cobb to see if you should re-install the factory airbox.
I don't know "exactly how much" power this will add to your car. Most owners also install a catless uppipe. You didn't state whether your downpipe is catless or uses a high-flow cat. Each WRX may vary in output by several horsepower (and torque) due to factory build procedures and aftermarket tuning, so your mileage may vary a bit from what other people achieve.

Do NOT use a boost controller unless you have your car professionally tuned for it.
If you do plan on changing your boost levels, you should really get an EGT and boost gauge. I would recommend Defi or Blitz since they are the same. The EGT gauge will help you monitor if you are running too lean(EGTs rise above 1600F when tapped at the exhaust manifold, drilled in to the iron).
Your car will be a lot smoother with a custom tune, and will increase the life of the engine vs. blindly tuning the car and cranking up the boost without adding more fuel.
You can contact Ed @ EQ Tuning about remote Cobb tunes and choice of hardware.
