Ecutek Tuning Results

Hi guys,

Been living on the dyno for quite some time now. While they are not quite yet final, we came up with some nice ECU calibrations for our Stage Zero kit. The car represented in the following graphs is a 2002 WRX with our pulley and up-pipe. Running on 91 octane. With the stock ECU, after many consecutive learning pulls, it makes a repeatable 179-181 wheel hp. Interesting to notice that the first few runs were in the 170-175 wheel hp range. Gotta love auto-tuning that actually works.

After re-mapping fuel, timing, boost targets, knock correction, temp compensation, etc., tables, the car ended up making a nice and repeatable 204-207 wheel hp with significant torque gains across the board. Boost levels were almost unchanged up until 5200rpm. By 5900rpm, the remapped ECU raised boost by just 1 psi (11psi vs 10psi). By 6500rpm, boost pressures were 10psi vs. the stock 8psi. So yest, boost pressures are still quite conservative.

Still a bit more road testing and multi-car trials to conduct before the maps are considered complete. But so far, we're happy with what we're seeing.

FWIW, on our dyno, most stock WRXs dyno in at 158-162 wheel hp. Most Stage Zero cars dyno between 192-200 wheel hp. This car, in particular, made 194 hp with the Unichip and MBC. So an additional ~10-13 wheel hp is a nice gain. Also interesting is that the car runs richer a/f ratios with more positive knock correction values. And no, there is no CE light

Cheers,
shiv

I'd be curious to see the ECUTEC vs the Unichip/MBC on a graph too. Just to see the differences accross the band not just at peak. It's also nice to see the ECUTEC gets rid of the little blip at 3100 or so. BTW I'm guessing this test shows the factory ECU after a fresh reset?-James

Nope... those factory ECU results are after several learning runs. The runs right after reset were considerably lower.

As for your Unichip/MBC vs. remapped ECU request... here it is...

Will you be selling 'general' reflashes (ie, for up-pipe, exhaust) for people who can't make it into your shop?
Absolutely. We already started offering re-flashes for cars with up-pipes. Just send in your ECU and we'll send it out the same day.

Shiv,

Andy here, Tom Wieglenda's Navy friend.

I want you to tune my WRX with the ECUTEK.

I have:

STi injectors
PE1820
Vishnu Uppipe
3" catless turbo back
Blitz FMIC
EBC (SBC id)
6MT

Can it be done? What are you charging? I want a dyno tune with the deal...

Thank you Sir,

Andy
