Driving with cel on
Hi, im gonna put on an HKS D/p and Hiper exhaust system. This will trigger the cel light.I have ordered an OBD2 from scoobysport but that will take its time.So my questions are, will it cause any damage to the engine, will the engine go into "limp-mode" and can i drive the car as usual?
Many thanks :-)

What you need is the CEL fix, not an OBDII scanner. Also, your car will run okay with that CEL code on, just not as strong potentially.
I would skip the HKS downpipe. It's absolutely hands down the worst one on the market. Go with pretty much anything else on the market if you haven't already ordered it.

Bummer, its already ordered and paid for.But i think ill have to customize it at the inlet cause it looked so thin and small!
Thnx for the answer :-)
From Scoobysport:
"Every Subaru manufactured after 2000 has On Board Diagnostics (OBDII), which monitor the efficiency of the original catalysts. If the downpipe and/or the up pipe are replaced with de-cat versions, OBDII will trigger an error code. The error code is P0420 “Catalyst below efficiency threshold”. This will also illuminate the Check Engine Light on the dashboard.
ScoobySport are the only company to have developed an active electronic fix for this. The tiny grey box is wired in line with the rear O2 sensor, next to the ECU, and modifies the signal from this sensor. The use of this fix does not affect any other operation of the ECU, nor does it stop the CEL illuminating if the ECU records any other error code."

Do you know if i can drive with the exhaust installed while i wait for the component?
The light will probably come on but will it go away when i install that el,fix thing?

Yes, you can drive as long as you wish with that code on. In fact, no CEL will hurt your car unless it comes on and flashes. A solid on CEL is just a warning.
