AP 2.0 worth it? a little confused.
Noob here.
06 WRX with just a 3" cat back and K&N drop in with snork removed.
First question, answer is likely "no" but, does either the CBE or the aibox mod make any difference in the horsepower that I'd get with adding the Access port?
Second, I've read the Cobb site text saying add 33 hp for stage 1, which is just the AP. But I looked at their dyno chart and it shows almost zero increase in HP and negligible increase in torque. Stage 2 chart shows only a 22 hp gain but a big tq gain but the text says 53 hp and 68 tq. what is the truth on this? Vishnu says 265 Hp with just the reflash so I'm not sure what I should be following for Cobb. How am I misreading this?
If I get the AP and nothing more than what i've listed above, what should i expect for power?
Thanks.

well the reason it shows no power gain but the only reason it shows this is cause cobb did an awd dyno and subaru did a crank dyno!
reflash and a stage 1 does a little but not a whole lot but haveing the cobb helps alot!
stage 2 is noticeable!

That didn't help me really (no offense). Cobb shows a chart with .4 gain in HP but they have text saying 33 hp. if i'm seriously only gonna gain .4HP i might as well rent a midget to push from the back. there must be more to it.

ok the diference between crank horsepower and wheel hp are like day and night!
cobb uses subarus stock hp numbers for their baseline!
if the stock numbers are from the crank and the cobb numbers are from the wheels its only gunna show a .4 hp gain but if the two were dyno'd at the same point the diff would be noticeable!

but what about vishnu? i was thinin of taking mine to vishnu, basically same setup but slightly different
i have 07 wrx w/ turbo back and a short ram intake and heat shield
i was planning on goin to vishnu, but i have heard good things about cobb
not sure which to stick with

Yup..i get the crank vs wheel thing. but cobb shows a dyno chart with starting point of 202 hp for stock and an end point of 202.4. The chart also states all numbers are at the wheels.
So how does Cobb state; "unlocking an additional 33 HP (power) and 43 lb-ft (torque) from a WRX and increases boost to approximately 14.7psi." when they show the dyno with .4hp gains and say its all at the wheels. Are they saying they gain 33 crank HP but it's completely lost getting to the wheels?

I see what you mean. I THINK the issue is that the chart lists PEAK hp and torque figures. But, if you look at around 3000 RPM's, the difference is much bigger than .4 - which is probably the 33hp they are listing.

so would vishnu be the better buy in this case then? i have a turboback exhaust, and i was going to go down there and get their pulleys, and their up pipe, or maybe buy my own to save some money, but would cobb give me more power, or should i just stay with vishnu?

i still dont think vishnu would be better if u plan on adding to ur performance add ons!
with the cobb u can keep on changing stages with the device the vishnu has a plug and play!
but if u plan to not upgrade anymore vishnu sounds perfect!
i think i would buy cobb instead of the vishnu ecu reflash!

I called Cobb today and was told that the 30-33 HP increase they state for Stage 1 on the web is not accurate, and that they dyno chart is the accurate one. You would gain torque but not HP. Kinda shady to me.
I sent an email to Vishnu to see if they had a dyno chart for the v265 package so i'll see how that looks.
I'm starting to question the idea of reflashing now because i looked at some other posts stating Vishnu reflash doesnt last.

See my post here regarding the same setup I pretty much have as you. I did add a hallman MBC (approx $90) for the tune.

Much better than the stock maps from cobb

so you had the cobb then you got the custom tune for the cobb and had a much better result?
i was debating what to do because i have 07 wrx tr with a turbo back and an intake, and i was just goin to work on a lil more like a boost gauge, and maybe pulleys/ up pipe or headers for now, then just suspension. but i like takin stuff in steps, so vishnu would only be good for that single tune, but the cobb would work to plug-n-play every time i want somethin new?
i just have heard great things about vishnu, and they have some nice results for their hp gains

I checked your Dyno and compared it to Cobb's....they are very very similar both in numbers and in linearity. Looks like your EQtuning had a little less flux in it throughout.
I was really hoping to keep my car almost stock and then do some simple SW/ECO change that gave me magical horsepower.
Maybe that's not possibe on the 06. Bummer--but a stock wrx is still fast and fun.
