infek- I have to travel between two states quite often. Wisconsin has 93 octane and Minnesota has 92 octane. Is it correct to assume that running the '91 octane map' would be safe all of the time?
Alternatively, would it be better(or safer) to run the 91 map with 92 octane gas; and then the 93 map with 93 octane gas?
I thought some forum post said that it may not be a good idea to run the same octane map with the same octane rated fuel(ie 93 map with 93 octane gas).
Anyone care to comment?
thx, Fatty
this is the beauty of the accessport....just change the map when you change gas. p.s. i suspect the 93 octane map is for 93 octane
and yes, cobb consistantly says that the best map would be lower octane when in doubt. now go get it and tear it up!

well, when i went stage 1, 15 months ago, i went 93 octane access ecu with no probs, desirable peak boost, and a big grin. i put the gutted up pipe and stromung dp on two weeks ago in anticipation of getting the accessport (ordered 1/30/04)...so i've been running cobb stage 1.5
for two weeks and run to the door every day after work waiting for "the package." official stage 2 seems a few days away....but i still plan on running 93 octane maps (we have 93 and occasionally 94 here in pa). i don't get the "run the 91 map at 93 octane to be safe" theory...please enlighten me while i go to www.cobbtuning.com for some more backround here. thanks.

I for one would use the 93 octane map with the 93 octane available (we don't have it here... the best we got is 92 and that's why I run the 91 octane map for safety).
Whereas if I were to run the 93 octane map on 92 that wouldn't be good.
Anyway all things aside... each map is designated at a MINIMUM rating so if you have 91 octane in your state you can run the 91/93+ octane maps... if you have 92 then you'll want to run the 91 octane map. But are fully able to run the 93 if you increase your octane with 100 octane or toluene or zylene
