Question AccessPort Run Down

Ok...

I have a '04 WRX Stock. I am a little unclear how this exactly works.

So lets say I order it and wait months for it to be delivered.

Steps:

1-I install the unit.

2-select the appropriate map out of the 5 choices. (91 octane right???)

3- drive the car and have a blast.

now....let's say I have to go to the dealer for warrenty work. Am I able to flash it back to stock take the unit out right then and their???

please let me know!

Thanks! rob

yes to all. You can download new maps. Depending on where oyu live you can use one for 93. If you want to reflash it to stock to take it to the dealer you can do so. Takes very little time, then just unhook it.

These are the type of maps available for the AccessPort. I have one and I like it!

VF30 91 - VF30 map using 91 octane fuel. Requires VF30 turbo, STI injectors, stock intake, stock intercooler and turboback exhaust. 315HP / 295 ft-lbs. Cat Efficiency and EGT CEL's removed.

VF30 93 - VF30 map using 93 octane fuel. Requires VF30 turbo, STI injectors, stock intake, stock intercooler and turboback exhaust. 320HP / 295 ft-lbs. Cat Efficiency and EGT CEL's removed.

VF34 91 - VF34 map using 91 octane fuel. Requires VF34 turbo, STI injectors, stock intake, stock intercooler and turboback exhaust. 315HP / 295 ft-lbs. Cat Efficiency and EGT CEL's removed.

VF34 93 - VF34 map using 93 octane fuel. Requires VF34 turbo, STI injectors, stock intake, stock intercooler and turboback exhaust. 320HP / 295 ft-lbs. Cat Efficiency and EGT CEL's removed.

Valet - Valet mode operation. Rev limiter set to 4000 RPM and turns off boost control.

Anti-theft A - Anti-Theft mode, option A. Does not allow vehicle to start.

Anti-theft B - Anti-Theft mode, option B. Allow vehicle to start and idle (if warm). Vehicle dies instantly once RPMs increase over 1000.

Stock - Stock Mode style map. Uses stock fuel, timing, and boost values for conditions when you need the vehicle's ECU to act like it is still stock.

Stage 1 91 - Stage 1 for Stock Vehicles. 91 octane fuel. 255HP / 260 ft-lbs.

Stage 1 93 - Stage 1 for Stock Vehicles. 93 octane fuel. 260HP / 260 ft-lbs.

Stage 2 91 - Stage 2 using 91 octane fuel. Requires stock turbo, stock intake and turboback exhaust. 280HP / 285 ft-lbs. Cat Efficiency and EGT CEL's removed.

Stage 2 93 - Stage 2 using 93 octane fuel. Requires stock turbo, stock intake and turboback exhaust. 280HP / 285 ft-lbs. Cat Efficiency and EGT CEL's removed.

Economy 91 - Economy mode requiring minimum 91 octane fuel. Low boost and increased ignition timing for optimal fuel savings. Not a performance map and not recommended for aggressive driving.

not all of them are loaded at the time of delivery... you'll have to have special software (should come with the AccessPort, if not then you can download it) to transfer the maps to the AccessPort.

actually I don't think you'll be waiting forever (at least not as long as the people that pre-ordered in novemeber). People are getting them pretty quickly (not as quickly as some people want to though hehehe) but the wait is well worth it as specially if you haven't ever owned a cobb product before (like me)

- keep in mind that you cannot have ALL the maps listed above loaded on the AccessPort at once.. you can have 6 base maps and 10 real time maps loaded... each one of those maps listed above are available in either a real time or base map. please do your research before choosing what you're base map will be (the one that gets flashed to you're ECU when you install it).

so the ones above are the ones that come with it when you order it. Or do I have to load all of them. I can run the stage 1 93 octane here in DC

you should have a majority of them on there... sorry I 've already changed what came with mine when I received it

don't worry about it dude... it's not a big deal.. if you don't have what you want on the port when you receive it you just download and replace maps on the AccessPort!

if DC is like Hawaii in anyway as far as octane is concerned then best we got (with the exception of race gas) is 92 ocatne. you'll be able to run the 91 octane with no problem. if you want to run the 93 octane (you should be able to) you might have to add in some 100 octane to meet or exceed 93 octane. I used to run my car on 93 map (with my unichip) and it was fine! I say play it safe!

Cool man! I run the 91 octane just to play it safe. Then this summer I am going to get my turbo back and then it's STAGE 2 time!

Thanks for the help you really cleared it up! (thumb)

I thought some forum post said that it may not be a good idea to run the same octane map with the same octane rated fuel(ie 93 map with 93 octane gas).

Anyone care to comment?
thx, Fatty
you should be able to run the 91 octane on either the 91 or 93 octane map. The octane rating of the map is just the MINIMUM octane required to run that map. However if you run the 93 octane map obviously you should be getting a little more HP over the 91 octane map... but that means that you'll have to have a minimum rating of 93 octane in your gas tank to avoid detanation (sp?)... (safety)

but as stated earlier I did run 92 octane on a 93 octane map and it was fine for normal day to day driving...etc.

right now I have the VF30 91 octane map loaded as my base map since our maximum octane gas available is 92. I wll eventually change it to the 93 map.
