If you've never taken apart or built an engine before....I'd leave it to the experts. Let Ed (EQ tuning) do it. The last thing you'd want to do is F it up and have to do it all over again, spending more time and money. Plus having the peace of mind of knowing it has been done right is worth the $$$

While I see your point I have to say this. The experts werent always experts. They had to learn at one point just as I want to do with this build.

It IS worth the money to have someone build it, or do the entire swap, or just mod the whole car for you. However, you never learn anything by paying someone to do all the work for you.

Thanks for your opinion, but unless you have some money you wanna throw my way Im probably going to build the entire engine myself with help of course. I was just curious to see what Eds opinion was.

To do it properly, you need some specialty tools. We always use a bore gauge to measure bearing clearances. You will also need a good ring filer and ring compressor. The standard band type compressors will usually damage the deck of the block. Otherwise engine assembly is definitely not rocket science but does take a lot of patience and a meticulous approach to do it well. We also personally never run drop-in pistons because we've seen a lot of inconsistencies in the factory bores.

Thanks

One more stage 2 dropped in, another 2 blocks assembled, a third at the machine shop and yet another build being dropped off today. We're really moving through these builds now .

Ed, I might not be able to do my short block build before I deploy again. What would the charge be to assemble it?

Ive got everything except bearings but will have those soon. Mehle 99.5 forged pistons, stock STi rods, crank and block halves.
